Watch the full interview below to learn more from Laura’s expertise.
From Lawyer to Martial Artist
Laura's journey began as a hobby when she was a child, but it eventually evolved into a full-time pursuit. Prior to dedicating herself fully to martial arts and mobility, Laura was a lawyer living in New York City. However, like many others, the pandemic caused her to reassess her priorities and dive deep into the things she truly loves - recovery, sports mobility, and dancing.
"Right before COVID, I kind of like, I had it. So I said, "Okay, let me go to Bali and maybe take a break."
The Importance of Posture and Movement
When discussing the importance of posture, Laura emphasizes that it's not just about sitting up straight at your desk.
"Are you worried about your posture being straight, or are you worried about being healthy and actually taking an hour break every hour?" – she asks.
It's a powerful reminder that even with perfect posture, sitting for eight hours straight is not healthy either way, and we should always be taking those much needed screen breaks. Laura encourages people to change their posture frequently and take breaks to move their bodies.
Discovering the Benefits of Nexstand
Laura recently received a Nexstand laptop stand and had positive first impressions. As someone who frequently travels and works on the go, she immediately appreciated its compact size and portable design.
"It's useful. Thank you, thank you so much. Very much appreciated."
The Nexstand laptop stand is designed to promote better posture and ergonomics while working on a laptop, which aligns perfectly with Laura's focus on mobility and body awareness.
By elevating the screen to eye level and allowing for a more natural typing position, the Nexstand can help reduce strain on the neck, shoulders, and back—common problem areas for many laptop users.
The Power of Fascia Work
In addition to martial arts and mobility training, Laura incorporates fascia work into her teachings. Fascia, the connective tissue that runs throughout our bodies, plays a crucial role in overall health and performance.
By working with fascia, Laura has experienced significant improvements in her own performance, despite her age and the intense training she's done over the years.
Cleansing Your Body: Three Simple Steps
For those curious about how to start cleansing their body, Laura breaks it down into three simple steps: clean your environment, breathe, and move. She emphasizes the importance of organic food and avoiding toxins that can accumulate in our bodies over time. It's not about being perfect, but about making a commitment to health and well-being.
Bringing Fascia Work to the Masses
Laura is excited about bringing fascia work to a bigger platform through retreats. While the details are still being finalized, she promises to share more information on her Instagram and YouTube channel soon.
"I'm really excited about retreats, to bring this, but on a bigger platform"
Her dedication to helping others discover the power of self-care and self-discovery is truly inspiring.
Beginning Your Journey to Better Health
"Cleanse your body, breathe and move,"
Laura's insights serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritizing health and well-being. Whether it's through practicing mobility exercises, incorporating fascia work, using ergonomic tools like the Nexstand laptop stand, or simply taking breaks to breathe and move, small steps can lead to significant improvements in overall health and performance.
